Meet Sylvain Cornut, Developer at Aproove

When Sylvain joined Aproove, it wasn’t through the usual path of years of professional experience. Instead, he started out as an intern. What began as a six-month internship quickly grew into something bigger. After proving himself and completing his studies, he officially became part of the team.

Before Aproove, Sylvain’s work life looked a little different. Starting at 16, he spent weekends working in a hypermarket. Those early shifts may not have had much to do with software, but they taught him something just as important: how to work effectively as part of a team. That skill would later help him thrive at Aproove.

From Internship to Full-Time Developer

Today, Sylvain is a developer focused on Aproove’s new administration interface. While he doesn’t work directly on the core product, his role is no less important. He designs and maintains the administration features, making sure they meet user needs and deliver a smooth, efficient experience.

So what drew him to Aproove? “The first reason was the team,” he explains. “I met passionate and close-knit people. The connection happened quickly, and I immediately felt like I belonged.”

Beyond the people, it was the product itself that impressed him. “I was struck by the complexity of Aproove and the impact it had with clients. It amazed me that a Belgian company based in Mons was selling such a powerful solution to major international corporations. And once I got more involved, I understood why.”

A Favorite Feature: Workflows

When asked which part of Aproove he admires most, Sylvain doesn’t hesitate: the Workflow. “The complexity of Workflows in Aproove makes it possible to manage huge projects for major clients, all in a smooth and logical way. It’s really impressive.”

A Day in the Life

A typical day for Sylvain starts with checking emails and support tickets. If a client has reported a bug or requested a new feature related to his work, he immediately discusses it with the support team and anyone directly involved to decide on next steps.

Once urgent matters are handled, he turns to the sprint board to continue development. At the end of each day, he makes sure his work is left in a stable state. “That way, when I start the next morning, I can pick up right away without wasting time getting back into the code.”

Right now, he’s deep into developing a highly anticipated feature: the import/export tool.

Building Something New

The import/export tool will allow users to export objects from one Aproove server and import them back into the same server or into another. This feature will save clients and internal teams significant time.

For example, a client with both a test server and a production server will be able to export objects from the test environment and import them directly into production, without having to reconfigure everything from scratch. The export function could also serve as a backup solution, adding another layer of value.

“I’d say the import/export tool is my favorite feature at the moment,” he says. “While many interesting features are being developed by my colleagues, this one is highly anticipated and will make a real difference.”

Looking Ahead

From his early internship to building tools that will be game changers for clients, Sylvain’s journey at Aproove shows how talent and teamwork can create real impact. His story highlights the importance of not just what’s built, but who’s behind it.
